Kömür Han (Murad IV Han) is a historic Ottoman structure between Elazığ and Malatya, now submerged beneath the Karakaya Dam Lake. It was built between 1639 and 1649 during Murad IV's Baghdad-Yerevan campaign. Made of cut stone, the han was designed for both summer and winter use, with an open and a covered courtyard. Inside the han are traveller's cells, hearths, a water pool and, to its southeast, a domed prayer room. Today the structure lies entirely beneath the dam's waters.
