He was the fourth son of Mehmet Bey, founder of the Aydınid Principality. In dividing his lands, Mehmet Bey left Tire to Süleyman Şah. Between 1390 and 1405, Tire became the capital of the principality. Buried in the tomb are Süleyman Şah, İsa Çelebi, Selim Çelebi, and Hızır Çelebi. The inscription reads: 'This tomb was built in the year 750 over the great and noble emir, the man of saintly virtues, Süleyman Şah, son of Mehmet, son of Aydın - may God have mercy on each of them.'
