Editor's Note
It was founded in 1926 as a partnership between Hilmi Yıldırım and his father Abdullah Yıldırım. Hilmi Yıldırım took part in the War of Independence with the rank of sergeant and during that time also served as Atatürk's driver. The factory was built using the solid (old-type) bricks commonly produced in Ortaklar, and it was set up to produce not only olive oil but also pomace and soap. In 1955 the family opened a new factory in Germencik-Hıdırbeyli and continued their operations there.
