One of the structures completely destroyed by the flood that struck Aksaray in AH 1280 / AD 1863 was the Karasu Bridge. The governor of Konya, Ferid Paşa (1889-1902), passed along the road where the bridge stood during a journey to Aksaray. The present bridge must have been built sometime after 1863.
