It stands on Hacı Hamza Street in the Yıldırım neighborhood. This neighborhood was called Hacı Hamza before the Republic and was renamed Yıldırım afterward; the old name survives to this day as that of the small mosque and the street. In the foundation records dated AH 881 / AD 1476, from the reign of Mehmed the Conqueror, there are two small mosques in Akşehir named Hamza Mescidi: one in the Hacı Hamza neighborhood and the other in the Cambaz neighborhood. As the mosque has no inscription, its date and founder are unknown.
