The Koc Mosque is located in the Lower Town of the Hasankeyf district of Batman province, within the Central Excavation Area. As the building bears no inscription, its architectural and decorative features suggest it dates to the 12th-century Great Seljuk period. The rectangular prayer hall of this monumental courtyard mosque extends east to west, and the large iwan on the main axis opens onto the courtyard to the north. The courtyard units around the mosque are thought to have served functions such as a madrasa, soup kitchen, lodge, and caravanserai.
