The construction date of the building in the Upper Quarter of the Hasankeyf Inner Citadel, known among local people as the Molla Cemal Mosque, is not known with certainty. Square in plan and covered with a dome, the mosque achieves the transition to the dome with squinches and is built of rubble stone and gypsum mortar. Its wall remains have come down to us largely ruined, with a major part of the dome and the portico (last congregation place) destroyed. Around the mosque are toilet units and auxiliary buildings thought to be associated with it.
