The water reservoir in the southern part of the Hasankeyf Inner Citadel is a large rectangular structure carved into the bedrock to meet the city's water needs. The water channels and siphon system connected to the reservoir carried water to the citadel from the villages of Karaköy and Uzundere. The system used the principle of communicating vessels and the siphon to raise water to height. Despite damage in places, the reservoir and most of the connected channels still stand today.
