Editor's Note
The ruin of a domed circular building, seen about 200 metres southeast of the fountain ruin, has been mistakenly called the Tomb of Saint Luke. According to what excavations have shown, this is an ancient structure 16 metres in diameter, most likely a monumental tomb built for heroes, thought to date to the 1st century AD. Of this two-storey building, first erected in the 2nd century AD over earlier structures, only the left part survives today. Its face is clad in marble and pierced by sixteen window-like niches.
