When the Ziyaiye Madrasa was built, it had thirty-four cells, which made it the largest madrasa in Konya. It is clearly seen from old photographs that it extended from the north of the Ulvî Sultan Mosque to the west side of the Şerafeddin Mosque and to the south of the Mahkeme Bath. Built in 1813 by the mufti of Konya at the time, Eşenlerlizade Seyyit Abdurrahman Efendi, the madrasa was an important building that brought together the scholarly understanding and architectural aesthetics of its era.
