Editor's Note
Located to the southeast of Konya Train Station (1896), the Baghdad Hotel was built in 1912. From 1980 to the present it has continued to be used as a TCDD (State Railways) guesthouse. During the period when it opened and operated as a hotel, despite being far from the city, it hosted important gatherings and receptions thanks to such exclusive features as a tennis court and a ballroom-orchestra hall. During the War of Independence it served as a headquarters, an operations directorate, the Maarif College, and the Özel Hasta College.
