Editor's Note
The water-collection reservoir known as the Roman Pool was built to gather the still-active natural spring water and carry it to the ancient city of Tyana through underground channels and aqueducts constructed in the Roman period. The pool measures 23 x 66 x 2.5 meters, which is of Olympic dimensions. Excavations at the starting point of the channel leading out of the pool uncovered coins from the reign of the Roman emperor Caracalla (AD 198-211).
