Editor's Note
The ancient city of Tyana lies in the town of Kemerhisar in the Bor district. The ancient city is buried beneath a large part of the town. Important sculptural works found in various states in different parts of the town, along with artifacts and architectural fragments unearthed during scientific excavations at the site, are exhibited in the Nigde Museum. The town took the name Kemerhisar ("arch fortress") because of the Roman-period arches built to carry the spring water that fed the ancient pool known as the Roman Pool in the town of Bahceli.
