Editor's Note
The Zilli Han is an important caravanserai on the Kayseri-Elbistan-Aleppo trade route, thought to have been built between 1225 and 1250 during the Anatolian Seljuk period. Because it lay at a strategic crossing point in Seljuk times, it occupied a critical stopping place for both trade and military movement. The building has the typical han plan, consisting of a covered section and an open courtyard, and was built using cut stone and rubble stone. Only its foundation walls survive today, and it is largely in ruins.
