Editor's Note
Its inscription bears the year 1906. According to what the elderly tradesmen of the bazaar heard from earlier generations, the mosque had been built earlier and was repaired after a fire. The inscription dates from this period. The repair inscription of the Arasta Mosque in the Kaleiçi Bazaar, central Denizli. Meter: Fe'ilâtün / Fe'ilâtün / Fe'ilâtün / Fe'ilün. Transcription: This temple, in a former year, in a terrifying fire / Was all burned; may it henceforth, O God, stand firm / Hâcı Râşid Efendi devoted his effort to its building / May his place be in the highest reaches of the Paradise of Refuge / In supplication Feyzî spoke its chronogram: Mercy, O Lord!
