The settlement, whose name appears in inscriptions as Bindeos, Bindeon or Bindaios, is understood to have been administratively subject to Sagalassos, at least, during the Roman period. M. Özsait argues that Bindaios was founded at Kaleburnu in the Hellenistic period but was moved during the Pax Romana to Küçük Gökçeli Mound, set in the middle of a fertile plain (see Kaleburnu). The mound was investigated in 1994-95 under M. Waelkens on behalf of the Catholic University of Leuven, and was examined again in 1997 by M. Özsait.
