Editor's Note
Near the Grape Market and among the oldest mosques in Isparta, the Firdevs Bey Mosque was built in 1561 in the style of the architect Sinan by Firdevs Pasha, the governor of Isparta, during the reign of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent. Square in plan and single-domed, the mosque has a five-domed portico on the north side and a minaret at its northwest corner. Although it has no construction inscription, it has an endowment deed dated 1565. Because the mosque's name appears in works written about the architect Sinan, such as the Tezkiret-ül Bünyan, Tezkerat-ül Ebniye and Tuhfet-ül Mimarin, it is considered to be among Sinan's works.
