Editor's Note
It is one of the oldest Turkish monuments in Burdur. The building, which has survived in remarkably sound condition without losing its original character, was constructed as a tomb tower (kümbet) in keeping with the funerary monument typology of the Anatolian Seljuk tradition. The building bears no inscription, but given its architectural features and the fact that the Hıdırlık locality where it stands was the first settlement area of the Turks who came to Burdur, it may be argued that it was built in the 13th or 14th century for one of the leading figures of the Hamidids, the dynasty that held sway in the region at that time.
