The Ambar Neighborhood Church No. 1 is located in the Ambar (Ambarê) neighborhood of the Artuklu district of Mardin province, adjoining the Ambar Neighborhood Church No. 2. Built of regular cut block stone, the church is in ruins. Houses have been constructed over and around it. Spaces belonging to the church have been incorporated into these houses, and some sections of the church are used as stables with later-added walls. Set on a rectangular area, the church is entered through openings on the west, south and north.
