The Mor Yakup Monastery is located in the rocky area east of the Eski Mahalle (Qelit Mera) neighbourhood of the Artuklu district of Mardin province, to the northeast of the Deyrulzafaran Monastery. Spreading over a very wide area on the hilltop and the western slope of the rocky terrain, the monastery was built in three storeys. It contains three rock-cut churches and one masonry church.
