According to the date in the inscription above its entrance, the construction of the Mardin Izzetpasa Gendarmerie Station building was completed on 29 October 1929. The building served as a road station, set in an elevated position at the junction of roads heading in different directions on the old Diyarbakir-Mardin route. Today it has lost its function and is no longer in use. The structure stands 7 kilometres from the historic city centre, among the Zinnar gardens where the city's new development areas and the vineyards meet. With a footprint of about 140 square metres, the building has two storeys.
