The Sultan Seyhmus Hermitage stands in the garden of the mosque in the Yucekoy (Cale) neighbourhood of the Artuklu district of Mardin Province. Investigations at the site found that the structure, called a hermitage, was carved into the bedrock. Bearing traces of plaster here and there on its walls, it was determined to be a pear-shaped cistern with a round mouth widening towards the base, which in later periods was reorganised into a dwelling and then into a hermitage. Local people say that Sultan Seyhmus used this place as a hermitage during the months of Ramadan.
