Editor's Note
The Old Syriac Cemetery of Çukuryurt Village is a historic burial ground to the west of the village in the Gercüş district of Batman Province, known to local people as Tırbıke Fellaha. The boundaries of the area are unclear, and most of the graves have been destroyed, their head and foot stones lost; the surviving gravestones bear no writing or ornamentation. No burials take place in the cemetery today.
