Because it has no construction inscription, its date of construction is unknown. However, according to the archival documents, the building was commissioned by Ekmekcibasi Haci Ali Aga under Alauddevle Bey (1480-1515), ruler of the Dulkadir Beylik. This information indicates that the mosque was built during Alauddevle Bey's reign, between 1480 and 1515. Because the mosque stands at the point where two streams (the Kanlidere and the Akdere) meet, it is, as it remains today, popularly known as the "Bogazkesen Mosque."
