Part of a complex (kulliye) commissioned by Alauddevle Bozkurt Bey, ruler of the Dulkadir Beylik, in memory of his deceased wife Sems Hatun, the bathhouse was built around the year 1500. The complex is an integrated group of buildings comprising a mosque, madrasa, tomb, bathhouse, and fountain. The bathhouse was positioned independently of the other elements of the complex, rising to the south of the Great Mosque (Ulu Cami). Architecturally, the building has a plan scheme of three iwans and a single cell, reflecting the classical pre-Ottoman bathhouse layout.
