Editor's Note
It was built around the middle of the 17th century by Iskender Bey, son of Haci Abdullah Bey of the Bayazitogullari. The mosque, described as having a timber-beamed structure and a flat earthen roof, had fallen into ruin and was demolished; in its place the present mosque was built between 1330-1332 / 1912-1914 by the architect M. Ali Kapikaya, commissioned by Haci Ibrahim Evliya Efendi, who served as an adviser at the Sharia Court. The construction inscriptions on the mosque are located on the mihrab, the main entrance, and the courtyard gate.
