Editor's Note
Located on the southern side of the city, 6 km from the center within the bounds of the Aksu neighborhood, the structure is said to have originally been built in 1201. Standing on a hill overlooking Lake Kumasir, it has been opened to visitors with a small mosque, the tomb section, and landscaping. Associated with a figure from the 7th-century period of the Islamic conquests, the Tomb of Malik Ejder is one of Kahramanmaras's important religious and historic sites. According to tradition, Malik bin Ejder, a Yemeni commander and companion of the Prophet, was sent during the reign of Caliph Omar to bring the region into Islam, and was a leader renowned for his courage and justice.
