Editor's Note
Karatepe (Aslantaş) is a Neo-Hittite fortress and open-air museum in the Kadirli district of Osmaniye Province, lying in the Taurus Mountains on the right bank of the Ceyhan River. Built in the 8th century BC by the Hittite king Asativatas against tribes to the north, it was named Asativadaya. The fortress and its surroundings now form an open-air museum within Karatepe-Aslantaş National Park.
