The building, now in a ruined state, displays the plan characteristics of a han (inn). Although there is no information about its dating, in terms of the materials and technical features used, we may regard it as an Anatolian Seljuk han. The Kantarma Han is located in the village of Kalkan in the Halfeti district of Şanlıurfa, and only some arch and wall remains have survived to the present day. Although its exact construction date is unknown, the route on which it stands, its plan features, and the fact that it is locally known as a "Seljuk han" strongly suggest that the building is a medieval Anatolian Seljuk work.
