The mosque has no construction inscription or endowment deed. Townspeople say the building may have been erected before the 19th century. A recently added plaque above the mosque door bears the date 1840. During the Republican era, in the 1970s, the upper covering was removed; the piers supporting the mosque's roof and the arches connecting them were demolished, two new piers were built in their place, and the top of the mosque was covered with concrete. There is a difference between the mosque and the minaret in terms of construction technique and materials used.
