Since there is no inscription regarding its construction, the date the tomb was built is unknown. The poet Karacaoğlan mentions Salman Baba in one of his quatrains: "O caravaneer heading to the lands of Maraş, / Give our greetings to our encampment; / Tarry, for the love of God, O wanderer, / Stop by Pazarcık, by Salman Baba." The Salman Baba mentioned in this quatrain is thought to be Salman-ı Pak, who is buried in the tomb. In the sources, Salman-ı Pak appears as a "water-bearer." Based on this information, the tomb is thought to have been built in the 17th century.
