Editor's Note
The Via Sebaste is a military road built in 6 BC by the Roman governor Cornutus Arruntius Aquila. Running from Antioch in Pisidia, it crosses the Taurus Mountains to reach Perge and was of strategic importance for Roman control. The road was 6 to 8 metres wide and suitable for wheeled vehicles. The Apostle Paul is thought to have possibly used it on his first missionary journey. It underwent two major repairs in the Roman period, was narrowed and stepped in the Byzantine and Ottoman periods, and remained in use until the 19th century.
