Şire Hanı

With its 7,500-square-meter area, the Şire (Belediye) Han is one of the largest caravanserais in Gaziantep and the surrounding provinces. The han takes the name Şire because products of the Gaziantep region such as grapes, fruit pulp, sucuk, grape molasses, honey, butter, and pistachios were sold within it. Bearing many features of classical Ottoman han architecture, the han is rectangular in plan. Its most distinctive feature, setting it apart from other hans, is the monumental crown gates on three of its facades. Completed in 1885, the han took 25 years to build.
