Editor's Note
Built in 1856 in the Bey neighborhood by the Armenian moneychanger Karanazar Nezaretyan, this two-story mansion also served as the Iranian Commercial Consulate of the period. Its domed room, named Cennet (Paradise), was used as a church; after the Armenians left the region following the War of Independence, a wealthy local family from Antep bought the mansion. According to unofficial accounts, Atatürk stayed in this house when he came to Antep. The walls of the rooms in the mansion are decorated with carved woodwork and natural-dye paintings.
