This was the pharmacy that Mustafa Rıfat Bey (Gülek), who had learned the trade from the pharmacist Kiriyakos, opened in Tepebağ in 1902. It operated until 1949, but after Mustafa Rıfat Bey's death it could no longer be run and closed down. The building, reduced to ruins by a fire, was restored by the Gülek family and donated to the Turkish Pharmacists' Association on the condition that it be used as a library. After restoration, it opened in 2003 as the Mustafa Rıfat Library.
