The Kale Mosque (Kale Mescidi) stands on the ancient road in the north-western part of the Acropolis, at the junction of the street that runs from the Acropolis North Gate toward the heart of the city. The building was constructed with spolia blocks taken from surrounding structures and with polygonal stonework. Notably, stone was used throughout, including for the roof. The two-part mosque has a square-plan prayer hall (harim) and an entrance section attached to the north, with a rectangular forecourt added to its northern façade.
