Editor's Note
Mnara, also known as Marmara, was a settlement of ancient Lycia founded in the Hellenistic period and inhabited through Roman and early Byzantine times. It spreads over the summit and slopes of Kavak Dağı, at about 1,350-1,400 metres, east of Ovacık village in the Kemer district of Antalya. According to Diodorus Siculus, its inhabitants put up a fierce defence against Alexander the Great during his invasion. Excavations at the site began in 2004 and are ongoing.
