Editor's Note
It is located between Kursunlu Han and the Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Inn (Defne Han), to the west of the historic Kurtulus Avenue. Although it is not known for certain when the soap works was built, its first owner is known to have been Kuseyrizade Haci Rifat. Since the structure is mentioned among the soap works in the second half of the 19th century, it was likely built in that century. The building ceased production and lost its function after the second half of the 20th century.
