Editor's Note

Although the exact construction date of the Kuseyri Apartment Building is not known, Reşit Kuseyri stated that, despite having been built between 1930 and 1935 as a hotel, it was never operated in that capacity and was used as a residence after its completion. The building stood on the city block at the intersection of Hükümet (Saray) Avenue and Silahlı Kuvvetler Avenue, in an area that was the bed of an old stream known as the Akakir Creek, which flowed from the eastern mountains to join the Asi (Orontes) River.
