Gemiler Island lies near Ölüdeniz, opposite Soğuksu Cove. Access to the island is from Gemiler Cove near Kayaköy. On the island are the remains of four churches, tomb structures and ruins of a medieval settlement. The civil-architecture buildings consist of dwellings and cisterns. Some of the remains can also be observed underwater. The island is believed to have been settled between the 5th and 7th centuries and abandoned following the Arab raids of the 7th century.
