Editor's Note
Karacaören Island is smaller in scale than Gemile Island. On the island are the ruins of a large three-aisled basilica. Asano dated this building to the late 6th-early 7th century, while Foss dated it to the 6th century. Coins from the reign of Heraclius have been found on the island.
