The Temple of Apollo at Sura lies within the deep valley to the west of the acropolis. Steps cut into the rock show that one descended here from the acropolis by stairs. The temple has an in antis plan and is in the Doric order. On the rear facade, one block of the triglyph and metope frieze is still visible. The spring where the prophecies were made lies at the foot of the acropolis. Here the priests would dip skewers laden with meat into the water and make their prophecies according to whether the fish ate the meat or not.
