Editor's Note
The Karataş Han is an Ottoman way-station caravanserai located in the Karataş district of Adana, on a hill known as the "Pazar Yeri" (Marketplace) overlooking the sea, commissioned in 1608 by Mir Ali. Rectangular in plan, with a wide courtyard surrounded by rooms, the building was largely destroyed after being expropriated by the municipality; new structures were built in its western and southern sections. The han, of which the last known entrance gate and part of the east wing remain standing, holds additional historical and geographical significance due to its proximity to the ruins of the ancient city of Mallus.
