Story
Standing on one of the high hills of Polatlı, the Duatepe Martyrs' Memorial was built to commemorate the lives given in the War of Independence, one of the most important turning points in Turkey's history. Situated at the northern edge of Ankara, this memorial successfully fulfills its purpose of symbolizing the weight of history with its magnificent structure of stone and marble. During the Battle of Duatepe in 1921, thousands of Turkish soldiers were martyred in the fierce fighting that took place on this terrain.
