Editor's Note
The Atıf Efendi Library is in the Vefa quarter of Istanbul's Fatih district, endowed in 1741 by Atıf Mustafa Efendi, a chief treasury official and divan poet. It was the second library in the Ottoman state to occupy a building of its own. Its collection includes about 3,000 manuscripts among some 30,000 works in total, and all of its manuscripts have been digitized.
