Istanbul High School (İEL), located in the Cağaloğlu quarter of Istanbul, is a school that continues the Ottoman-era Numune-i Terakki Mektebi and today operates with Anatolian High School status. Since 1933 it has been housed in the former Düyûn-ı Umûmiye (Ottoman Public Debt Administration) building. Despite its name ("Boys' High School"), it is coeducational and offers a five-year program combining the Turkish and German education curricula, with some courses taught by German teachers according to the German curriculum.
