Story
Set on the high hills of Beykoz, accompanied by the winding waters of the Golden Horn, the Göksu Coffeehouse was one of the most important entertainment venues of Istanbul's classical era. Built in the 19th century, this historic structure draws attention with its wooden architecture; the view of the Golden Horn seen through its wide windows offered a priceless visual experience. Ottoman officials and intellectuals would enjoy their tea at this coffeehouse and take part in important conversations while watching the Bosphorus view. Its name comes from the nearby Göksu Stream; formed from the union of the words 'gök' (sky) and 'su' (water), this name reflects the venue's atmosphere, as clear and calm as the sky.
