Kennedy Lodge stands in the quiet quarters of Beşiktaş as a tangible monument to 1960s Turkish-American friendship. The building where President John F. Kennedy stayed as a guest during his visits to Istanbul, it is a silent witness to the Cold War era. With its wide windows, elegant architecture, and marble facade, the building carries the character of the Republican era and bears the weight of time upon its face. Positioned at a commanding point over the Bosphorus, the structure shows the blue of the sea and the green of the hills intertwined. An interesting feature of the building is that some of the era's most important diplomatic meetings took place in these very rooms.
