Opened in 2004 in Istanbul's Karaköy district, Istanbul Modern is Turkey's first museum of modern and contemporary art. It was founded by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) under the leadership of the Eczacıbaşı family, opening on 11 December 2004 in the No. 4 Antrepo warehouse. Its collection spans painting, sculpture, photography, design, architecture and new media. After its building was rebuilt, the museum reopened on its original site on 4 May 2023.
