İnceburun, Anadolu'nun en kuzey noktasıdır. Karadeniz'e uzanan Sinop Yarımadasının kuzeybatı ucunda yer alır. Sinop il merkezine 20 km uzaklıktadır. Burun, katılaşmış lav ve aglomeralardan oluşur. Üst Kretase (Tebeşir) Döneminde (Kretase Dönemi, y. 136-65 milyon yıl önce) ait volkanik yüzeyde lavlar, aglomeralara oranla daha geniş yer tutar. Lavlar, sütun biçiminde ve çok çatlamış bazaltlardan oluşur. Bazaltlar ve aralarındaki aglomeralar bu kesimde genellikle kuzey ve kuzeybatıya doğru tabakalı biçimde bir eğim gösterir.
